Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) was formed on 1 January, 1992, by a decree issued by the late Sheikh
Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum to merge Dubai Electricity Company and Dubai Water Department, which had been
operating independently before then. Both organisations were established by the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum
in 1959. Dubai Government fully supported the Electricity Company and the Water Department to provide Dubai’s citizens
and residents with a continuous and reliable supply of electricity and water.
DEWA has made considerable achievements, ranking it as one of the best utilities in the world. DEWA provide services
today to more than 730,000 customers with a satisfaction rate that reached more than 94.4%

Tasks
Job Purpose:
Provide necessary isolation, switching & energizing of distribution circuits at site in coordination with Distribution Control
Center in accordance with operational procedures. Ensure that schedule is completed on time and response time targets are
met.
Key Responsibilities:
Planned outages: Provide necessary isolation, switching and energizing of distribution circuits during planned outages.
Obtain necessary work permits and communicate with Distribution Control Center before starting job. Ensure that planned
outage schedule is followed and that outage jobs are completed within targeted timeframes.
Forced outages: Receive system emergency calls and attend to them within specified timeframes. Report to Shift Incharge in
case of any difficulties faced.
Reporting: Provide daily report of all activities to the Shift Incharge.
Major emergency: Respond to system emergency call immediately and report at the assigned offices/substation/gathering
point as per instruction within 45 minutes from receiving call.
Procedure adherence: Responsible for implementing operational procedures and instructions in order to ensure the safety
and reliability of staff & system equipments. Report to Shift Incharge in case of fire accidents/ vehicle accidents.
Substation Condition Monitoring: Conduct substation condition monitoring visits/ checks according to the specified
procedures and instructions given by Unit Head.
Confidentiality: Ensure non-disclosure of confidential information to anyone within or outside the Authority, during or after
employment in DEWA.
Safety: Follow and adhere to the OH&S Management System Manual as per DEWA's safety standards.
